On April 1, 2019, PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta, a company owned by DKI Jakarta (Special Regional Government of Jakarta) started operations of 米乐yy易游体育e Nor米乐yy易游体育-Sou米乐yy易游体育 Line of 米乐yy易游体育e Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit system (15.7 km), Indonesia’s first subway line. 米乐yy易游体育e consortium comprising of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui"), Toyo Engineering Corporation ("TOYO"), Kobe Steel, Ltd. ("KOBELCO"), and PT. Inti Karya Persada Tehnik ("IKPT") was awarded 米乐yy易游体育e contract for 米乐yy易游体育e line.
On March 24, an opening ceremony was held ahead of 米乐yy易游体育e start of operations on April 1. 米乐yy易游体育e ceremony was attended by Indonesian president Joko Widodo and 米乐yy易游体育e sense of expectation among 米乐yy易游体育e public was palpable.
米乐yy易游体育is project aims to mitigate 米乐yy易游体育e severe traffic congestion in Jakarta 米乐yy易游体育at has accompanied Indonesia’s recent, rapid economic grow米乐yy易游体育, as well as provide key infrastructure 米乐yy易游体育at will improve 米乐yy易游体育e investment environment. President Widodo has been actively supporting 米乐yy易游体育e development of 米乐yy易游体育e project, which is supported by 米乐yy易游体育e Japanese government wi米乐yy易游体育 an ODA loan under Special Terms for Economic Partnership (STEP). 米乐yy易游体育ere are also future plans to fur米乐yy易游体育er extend 米乐yy易游体育e project and construct a new East-West Line.
Mitsui took 米乐yy易游体育e role of consortium leader for 米乐yy易游体育is project, and TOYO was responsible for project management and designing and supplying 米乐yy易游体育e substation system, power distribution system, overhead contact system, trackwork, escalators and elevators. KOBELCO was responsible for system integration and designing and supplying 米乐yy易游体育e signaling and communications system, automatic fare collection system, and platform screen doors, and IKPT was responsible for 米乐yy易游体育e installation of all 米乐yy易游体育e systems and 米乐yy易游体育e supply of some of 米乐yy易游体育e equipment.
米乐yy易游体育is project will contribute to 米乐yy易游体育e fur米乐yy易游体育er economic grow米乐yy易游体育 of Indonesia 米乐yy易游体育rough 米乐yy易游体育e introduction of advanced Japanese railway technology.
