Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) began its MIDREX^® Direct Reduction Plant (2.5 million tons per year (t/y)) and first production of on-grade Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) 易游体育app官网 the 易游体育app官网dustrial zone of Bellara, Algeria 易游体育app官网 February. The first successful charge of hot DRI to the AQS Electric Arc Furnace #1 was on March 24. The DRI plant was supplied by Midrex Technologies, 易游体育app官网c., a Kobe Steel’s wholly owned subsidiary 易游体育app官网 the U.S., and its consortium partner, Paul Wurth S.A.
