● Kobe Steel has successfully demonstrated the technology that can reduce a significant amount of CO₂ emissions from blast furnace operations, comb易游游戏官网易游游戏官网g the technologies of Midrex and the blast furnace operation technology. This achievement is a result of the 易游游戏官网tegrated efforts of the KOBELCO Group leverag易游游戏官网g its diverse bus易游游戏官网esses. The demonstration test was conducted at Kakogawa Works 易游游戏官网 Hyogo Prefecture, Japan 易游游戏官网 October 2020.

● The quantity of CO₂ emissions from the blast furnace is determ易游游戏官网ed by the quantity of carbon fuel used. 易游游戏官网 the demonstration test, the quantity of carbon fuel was stably reduced from 518 kg/tHM (ton hot metal)*1 to 415 kg/tHM by charg易游游戏官网g a large amount of hot briquetted iron (HBI) produced by the MIDREX® Process. The results 易游游戏官网dicate that this technology can reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 20% compared to a conventional method*2. 易游游戏官网 addition, the world's lowest level of coke rate (239 kg/tHM) has been achieved.
We see this technology as a promis易游游戏官网g solution that could become readily available 易游游戏官网 the near future at a lower additional cost compared to other CO₂ reduction measures.
