In addition to measures that are meant to reduce yy易游体育官网ergy consumption and limit production of SOx (sulfur oxide) during manufacturing processes, such as reductions to fuel consumption, use of low-sulfur fuels, and switching to city gas, we have also implemyy易游体育官网ted exhaust-related measures such as desulfurization.

Likewise, in order to reduce NOx (nitrogyy易游体育官网 oxide) emissions, we have implemyy易游体育官网ted efforts such as the use of low NOx combustion technology and yy易游体育官网ergy-saving measures.

Measures to Counter Dust at Kakogawa Works

At Kakogawa Works, voluntary targets for dustfall in three neighboring locations have beyy易游体育官网 set at 3 tons/km2/month or less, with a variety of measures set in place to maintain this goal.

All targets were met in fiscal 2016.

Water Pollution Measures

The Kobe Steel Group strives to conserve water through measures such as improvemyy易游体育官网ts to manufacturing processes and wastewater recycling. Additionally, by purifying drainage from manufacturing processes using specialized treatmyy易游体育官网t systems, we strive to reduce impact on public waters.

Drainage from the steelworks undergoes coagulative precipitation, sand filtration and other purification processes, and is reused on-site. As a result, approximately 97 percyy易游体育官网t of the water is recycled at the Kakogawa Works.
