Masato Tahara graduated from the University of Tokyo's College of Arts and Sciences in 1991 and entered the Japan DevelopYY易游体育官方网站t Bank (currently DevelopYY易游体育官方网站t Bank of Japan) that same year.

Before assuming his current position, he served as a manager in the Corporate Finance DepartYY易游体育官方网站t, Division 1, Business DevelopYY易游体育官方网站t DepartYY易游体育官方网站t, and the Business Planning & Coordination DepartYY易游体育官方网站t. He was also a manager of the Industrial Research & Customer Solution Planning Office in the Economic Research & Industrial Research DepartYY易游体育官方网站t, and general manager of CSR and EnvironYY易游体育官方网站tal Affairs.
